Oh Podcast . . . You Are Such a Tease!

Podcasts. Seriously, how hard could it be to host a podcast. Seriously. How? 

In order to engage as many MOMMAS as can in the blogoshpere to encourage MOMMAS in the fine art of Christian mothering, we are making the podcasts for my Bible study on Ephesians entitled "High Stepping in Heavenly Places" available RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW from my blog site. 

Posting podcasts has proved harder than one might expect!

We started with my study on the book of Philippians called "Joy in the Journey." How hard could this be?Here was our first effort.

We called in on of our resident experts, Jason. He had never posted a podcast but he was willing to pitch in for us!

We did our research. Directions were downloaded and printed. Soon stacks and stacks of papers filled the desktop and spilled onto the floor.

Considering my computer skills, I was assigned the task of taking notes on each step we took.

Frustrated, Ray and I decided to call in another consultant.

Finally, four days and some 68 man-hours - frought with irritations, frustrations, and a million little electronic aggravations - later . . . we got this message:

Done! I'm as stunned as you are. But we are done. We got the last PODCAST added to our blog today. We are done. Done in and done! 

Ray and I calculated that it took us 10 days to post 10 PODCASTS. That can't be good! But its done. At least for now. We will soon follow with the other six studies, but seriously . . . we need a break. Ray and I are exhausted after trying to get these 10 PODCAST posted. I have asked Ray to write a funny post about the adventure of it all, she she said she would have to wait unti it got funny to her. So when the funny comes back at Standing Near the Cross . . . watch out. Cuz Ray can bring the funny. I'm just saying. Funny. She can bring the funny!

My studies are non-denominational and written especially for MOMS with kiddos of all ages, from toddlers to teens. As one mom to another, I have tried to translate the profound truths of the Word of God into practical message for daily living. How do you train up a child in the way he should go? How do you deal with a temper tantrum? How do you cope with a cranky child? What do you do when you adolescence sasses you? How do you respond to a tempermetal teen? How do you prepare to launch an adult child into the world? How do you hand down your faith to the next generation? How do you handle your own anger? How do you guard your heart? How do you think the thoughts of God? How do you live this thing out? How does it look on a mom who is exhausted physically, drained mentally, and spiritually off balance? How do you do this thing? And how, for heaven's sake, do you maintain Joy in the Journey? Well, for starters . . . open your Bible to the book of Philippians and let me share some things God has taught me.

Guess What?!?!?

Well, sisters, I am almost afraid to say it, but I think we have succeeded in posting a couple of the Joy in the Journey PODCASTS from my study on the Book of Philippians. Although the wheels may still come off the bus at any time, currently-at least the last time I checked-we had 4 of the PODCASTS available and we are working to get the remaining ones up and ready to download.

Joy in the Journey is a 10-week Bible study especially for MOMS. My studies are intentionally non-denominational and designed for moms with TODDLERS to TEENS. In the study you will learn how to conquer anger, how to use your words to bless and not bruise, how to tear down deeply ingrained habit patterns, how to hand down a living faith to your children and how to experience the JOY of Jesus!

We will eventually make all 7 of our Bible Studies for MOMS available for download off my blog but frankly, we are going to have to have a recovery period before we tackle any more!! Mercy me. This has been one LONG HARD HASSLE of enormous proportions!! I have nearly LOST MY JOY and nearly lost my testimony! Can I get a witness?!?!?

In an effort to instruct MOMS with the Word of God and encourage MOMS through the Spirit of God, we are grateful to have this PODCAST avenue available to us. Podcast. Seriously? Seriously!

PODCAST. Take Two.

We are planning to post our series on the Book of Philippians called "Joy in the Journey" on PODCAST. That is our intent. A noble intent. A nobel intent that is proving harder to do than we first anticipated! Well, we are close now. Or should I say, we are CLOSER now than we have ever been. The PODCAST for my 10-week series on Philippians called "Joy in the Journey" is just about ready to go live! Can you believe it? Seriously! I am stunned myself. Seriously stunned. 

Ray, my trusty assistant, and I have diligently been working to bring this project to the finish line and . . . we are very close now. The end is in sight. But WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT HAS BEEN! 

And we are not exactly sure if we can recreate what we have done so far! If it weren't for our MAD computer skills we would still be at the starting line. 

Thanks to good friends we have been able to get this far! Jason, Dr. E, Ray and Me and Joseph the Wonder Cat, have all collaborated in this process. And thanks to all interested parties, we are closer than we than we have ever been. 

We actually were able to get a whole 5 minutes of a message to download. Come Monday or Tuesday or sometime very soon, we will be downloading the "Joy in the Journey" messages. All 10 messages will be available to download from my blog at no charge. 

Joey, my beloved Siamese cat,had faithfully been in the middle of it all-offering encouragement to the computer operators! Here he is proofreading Ray's post before signing off on our work.

And we will be hoping against hope that, very soon, when you click on the PODCAST ICON that you can hear how to raise great kids according to God's principles and precepts. My series on Philippians will encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus as you train up your children and keep your JOY in tact.

Podcast. Are You Kidding Me?!?!?

PODCASTING. Seriously. I have been teaching Bible study for MOMS for the last 20 years. My sons were 8 and 10 when I started. They are 30 and 28 now! When I began teaching MOMS I had no idea that this is what the Lord had for me to do with my life (beyond the whole wife and mom deal-I was sure THAT was His perfect will for my life-but this . . . who knew?) but teaching MOMS has become the driving passion of my life!

I teach MOMS every week (Sept.-Nov. and Jan.-Mar.) at Bellevue Baptist Church. If you live ANYWHERE in the Memphis area, please come and join us. We have a wonderful time on Thursday mornings at 9:30! For information go to www.believe.org and click on Women's Ministry. We have a nursery for the wee ones and we are offering a program for home-school kiddos. Seriously, you don't want to miss out on this! We will learn how to deal with the angry monster (in your life and in your children), we will learn how stop screaming at your kids (its okay-we all resort to it every once in a while), and we will learn how to use our words to affirm our family as well as how to honor and respect our husbands. And then we eat lunch. Because we work up quite an appetite learning all that stuff!

Or you just had a baby and the idea of getting the baby dressed and you dressed at the same time is seriously out of the question. Good news. I have good PODCASTING news for you! I think (hope, really really hope) we will have the PODCAST up and running within a week, although this from a person who does not know how to do a thing but write on the computer, but I have PEOPLE. PEOPLE who know how to do stuff. Techie stuff. So . . . if Ray and I cannot get the silly thing to work, we are going to call in our people. So, keep checking back. And tell you MOMMY friends. Tell them to join us right here at this blog for a healthy dose of sanctified humor, practical advice of faith-walking as a mom, profound TRUTH from the Word of God, the added benefit of some funny stories from my crazy life.
