Sunflowers represent the lazy days of summer to me. The oversized yellow blooms frame the cocoa brown centers sitting atop a green woody stalk. The off-balances blossoms seem out of proportion to the leaves and stem. Just like summer. The long days and short nights seem out of proportion. The stifling heat and the high humidity seem out of proportion to the other season, and yet like sunflowers which wilt and dry on the stalk, summer slowly fades into the cooler temperatures of fall.
Oh yeah . . . and then there is the issue of the little boy standing among the sunflowers. This post is just one more way I can work my grandsons into the blog!!
And that is saying a mouthful! Blessings.
