Shannon over at Rocks in My Dryer is hosting a wonderful blog carnival called Works for Me Wednesday.
I want to share about how I memorize Scripture. This works for me. I have walked with the Lord Jesus for nearly 30 years and I am throughly convinced of the need to memorize God's Word. The psalmist wrote, "Thy Word I have hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee." The spiritual discipline necessary to memorize God's Word is a tough one to develop. I have found that if I type out the Bible passages I want to memorize on cardstock, (cut to the size of an index card) punch a hole in the corner, and put on a ring, I have a take-along book that is easy to tuck in my purse and work on whenever I have a free minute (like walking through the grocery) or am stuck in a waiting room. This allows me to become a good steward of my otherwise wasted moments, enlarges my Scriptural knowledge, and hides God's Word in my heart. This practice turns any waiting room into holy ground. This works for me!
