In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am joining others and using each day of November to record something I am thankful for.
1. I am thankful for so great a salvation in Jesus Christ.
2. I am thankful my husband is also a believer. Craig and I got saved at about the same time in 1978 under the preaching ministry of Dr. Adrian Rogers. The Holy Spirit convicted us of our sin and introduced us to Jesus, who died to pay for our sin debt. Repentance and faith were the terms God required to activate saving faith. Since that time we have committed to aggressively pursue lives of personal holiness and practical righteousness.
3. I am thankful for the spiritual decision our sons made to receive the Lord Jesus.
4. I am thankful my boys determined to walk in the ways of the Lord as they stepped into the adult world. Both boys took godly wives, and began building their own households of faith. I have no greater joy that to hear my children walk in truth. Amen and Amen.
5. I am thankful my sons have little boys of their now. I delight to watch them parenting their little ones and bringing them up in the fear and nurture of the Lord.
6. I am thankful for a loving family.
7. I am grateful to be a part of the family of God as well as the body of Christ. I am an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus. The fact that God uses the term "family of God" to speak of the relationship born out of our salvation, lets us know that God intends for the family units to be a microcosm of the larger function of the family of God. The ever increasing dysfunction of the nuclear family testifies to the onslaught of the devil in his varied assaults on the home. If he can cause the family to implode, he can weaken the overall construction of the church.
