Thankful Thursday

I am very thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ and the joy He provides. I have been reading and studying the book of Philippians. Nineteen times in that short book Paul speaks of "joy" or "rejoicing". Chained to a Roman solider, under arrest for preaching the gospel, and held under house arrest for 2 years, he refused to give into the downward pull of the flesh. Paul chose joy! Paul knew a joy that transcended circumstances and turned a prison into a pulpit, from which he preached a life message of the abiding life of Christ. As Christians, joy is our birthright.
